Melissa Norgart understands that she is the only one who can define herself. And she does so through fitness. Through facing major life struggles, Melissa has found a way to overcome and persevere to stay fit, happy, and healthy, serving as an inspiration to those around her!
What is your name and age?
Melissa Norgart and I'm 45.
What inspired you to get fit?
Serious health issues
What keeps you motivated to live the healthy life?
My children. As a widow, and single mom, I'm the only parent they have. I want to spend a long, healthy life with them.
Describe yourself in three words:
Loyal, spunky, and down-to-earth
How do you balance life, work, training and family?
Very carefully. I make sure not to neglect my relationship with family & friends, but know if I'm not healthy, these relationships won't exist.
What is your favorite body part to exercise and why?
Shoulders. They develop very quickly for me, and balance out my strong lower body.
If you had to pick three key exercises - what would they be and why?
Diagonal front raises, Incline lateral raises, and Incline rear delt raise Kneeling land mine raise single arm
What is your favorite cheat “treat”?
Burger and sweet potato fries
What do you think is the biggest misconception about women in fitness?
That if women lift weights they will start to look manly
