Doina: Better Than Yesterday
Posted on August 28 2017
Meet Doina. She's a passionate and motivated woman with a refreshing outlook on all things fitness and food! Being fit and living a healthy lifestyle means enjoying life to the fullest - especially if means a little treat like some good dairy free ice cream!
What is your name and age?
What inspired you to get fit?
I've always been passionate in taking care of my body. Being fit has been the biggest blessing in stepping out of the comfort zones.
What keeps you motivated to live the healthy life?
I find motivation and more so determination in the fact that I want to be better than yesterday. I want to be the best I can be for me and those around me.
Describe yourself in three words:
Loving, extra caring and a good listener.
How do you balance life, work, training and family?
I work full time and train 6 days a week. When I feel extra tired I lower training down to 5 days a week. I always nourish myself with good foods so I do not feel bad for a day missed at the gym or without physical activity.
What is your favorite body part to exercise and why?
I love to train my legs. No, not for the booty. Though that is one major reason on its own. I do love to train my legs for the fact that they keep my whole body going everyday. I want them to be stronger and healthy for years to come.
If you had to pick three key exercises - what would they be and why?
Deadlifts, Pushups and Sprints. All three of these exercises make me whole. Like I mentioned before, I love training legs. So with deadlifts, I am mentioning all of them - conventional, straight legged, single legged, etc. There's a lot of power put into those and the muscle mind connection is the greatest because of the back. Pushups - who doesn't want to master this mighty exercise? It burns calories by working on so many muscles at the same time. I love it. Sprints make me feel like I'm flying. I do get this feeling after I am very warmed up. I am focused in that 30 seconds sprint. It makes me step out of the comfort zone, like really far out of it.
What is your favorite cheat “treat”?
Overall, I do not relate food with cheating. I think of it as a break from the regular and enjoy myself to the fullest because if I am enjoying food, I am spending time with loved ones as well. But I do know the feeling of having too much ice cream and then falling into a sugary coma. Because I have made the switch to nourishing my body, I do not crave "cheats" any longer. If I want to eat an ice cream, I pick a good dairy free vanilla ice cream. And that get's me satisfied.
What do you think is the biggest misconception about women in fitness?
There are so many of them. Not only they think they will become bulky, but also the society pushes them towards thinking that the results are not achievable, that whoever models is on some sort of a drug or that these women go at the gym for 4 hours a day.
What was the best part of wearing Affitnity? Did you love the clothing? Tell us why :)
I love wearing Affitnity because they have softest fabrics. I was working out one day and I forgot what I was wearing because it was one with my skin. Not having distractions is very important to focus on what you came at the gym in the first place.
